Leatherneck Marksmanship, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded in 2026 to teach the fundamentals of rifle and pistol marksmanship to young men & women enlisting in the United States Armed Forces, instilling in them the skills and confidence necessary to succeed throughout their military careers.
The 5.56 options represent current standard-issue military rifles. The .22 Long Rifle provides an affordable training alternative, in the same form factor. Sig Sauer makes the military pistols and the .22 option feels like a 9mm but is more cost effective for training.
Leatherneck Marksmanship plans to work exclusively and directly with Armed Forces Recruiters in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley and greater Anchorage area. All potential trainees will be vetted and recommended by these partners.
Initial funds will be raised through a combination of private donations, local grants and limited fundraising events; including the offering of marksmanship training to the public on a select basis for a donation to the organization at large.
We also intend to develop partnerships with like-minded veterans organizations to establish ourselves in the local community; raising funds & awareness for our services in the Mat-Su Valley.
We intend to keep our classes small, limiting each to four trainees that will work in pairs on the range. Our goal is to provide 5 separate classes this fall, to a total of 20 trainees.
